The Implemented Portfolios Asset Allocation and Investment Committee (AAIC)

At Implemented Portfolios, we pride ourselves on offering an exceptional investment management service from our Asset and Allocation and Investment Committee (AAIC).

The AAIC members are experienced and highly credentialed senior industry experts. Their role is to apply the investment philosophy in a disciplined manner, whilst ensuring that the investment program parameters are followed.

The AAIC team brings to Implemented Portfolios a combined 160 years’ experience in financial services and has been operating together since 2009.

Deanne Baker
Deputy Chief Investment Officer

Deanne joined Lonsec Investment Solutions Pty Ltd (LIS) as Portfolio Manager in early 2020 and is responsible for the management of Lonsec’s multi-asset & retirement portfolios. Deanne has been with the Lonsec Group since July 2007 and holds over 20 years’ experience in managed funds research and portfolio management.

Prior to joining LIS, Deanne was Co-Head of Manager Research at Lonsec, responsible for the quality and suitability of Lonsec’s managed funds research and overseeing an award-winning team of analysts.

Deanne is a member of the Lonsec Asset Allocation and Manager Selection Committees.

Prior to joining Lonsec, Deanne spent seven years with Invesco (and its predecessor, County Investment Management) where she worked as an Investment Analyst and later, Assistant Investment Manager for multi-asset class and structured portfolios. Deanne has also previously held roles at Barclays Stockbrokers and Legal & General Investment Management in the UK.

Paul Dortkamp
AAIC Chair
Paul has been involved in the Australian securities industry since 1971. Starting with the Securities Markets Department of the Reserve Bank of Australia and then moving on to a wide variety of roles including current board membership on Ellerston Global Investments and Ellerston Asian Investments. Paul was also an Executive Director and Head of Asset Allocation at Colonial First State (formerly First State) and previously held the position of Director-Trading & Funding at Kleinwort Benson Australia Ltd. Paul currently specialises in investment process and compliance. Paul is currently the Chair of the AAIC.
Nick Field
Nick joined Lonsec in 2021 and supports Danial in the management of Lonsec’s listed model portfolios. He is a member of Lonsec’s various investment committees, assisting with security selection, portfolio construction and asset allocation decisions. Nick brings to the IPL AAIC his expertise in: portfolio construction, security research and selection. Nick is also a member of the Lonsec Asset Allocation, Member Selection and Direct Equity Investment Committees.
Tim Farrelly
Tim has more than 40 years’ experience in the investment industry and has been a leader in providing asset allocation advice in Australia since 2000. He brings a unique combination of analytics, understanding of financial markets, knowledge of capital market history and insight into the practical requirements of portfolio management.

Tim was an Executive Director of Macquarie Bank Ltd and a Director of Macquarie Investment Management Ltd. During his tenure at Macquarie he sat on the MIML Asset Allocation and Risk Committees and was responsible for the long term Forecasting program which predicted the bear market in US equities, using the same principles that are the foundation of the Implemented Portfolios investment process.
Chris Robertson

Chris is an Investment Management veteran who brings over 30 years of experience in the day-to-day management of an IMA service, including asset allocation, portfolio modelling, trading and investment risk and analytics.

Having managed portfolios for the large majority of his career, for the past 5 years has been consulting to Investment Managers and Superannuation funds specializing in the design and implementation of investment strategy solutions with a particular focus on performance and investment risk.

Chris was formerly Investment Director at CFSGAM providing institutional representation of equity investment processes and capabilities. In addition to this Chris has extensive international investment experience including Senior Portfolio Manager Quantitative Equites at SSGA and Senior Quantitative Analyst at Schroders. This included membership of the Schroders Australian Asset Allocation Committee and designing and building of asset allocation and risk models to support investment decisions.

Chris has a Bachelor of Business from Massey University and a Masters in Management from Macquarie Graduate School. Chris continued his studies recently completing a Diploma in Data Science through John Hopkins University.
